NH Broadband Expands Affordable, High-Speed Internet in the North Country

Clarksville, Colebrook, Columbia, Dixville, Pittsburg, Stewartstown Residents Can Start Enjoying Fiber Fast Internet in May

NH Broadband, the broadband internet subsidiary of New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (Co-op), announced today that it will provide high-speed, reliable internet service to New Hampshire’s North Country through an expansion of its state-of-the-art fiber-optic network.

Service will be available as early as May 9 to some residents in Pittsburg, Clarksville and Colebrook. Service will become available starting May 16 and throughout the early summer to residents in the Coos County towns of Columbia, Dixville and Stewartstown. After lagging behind the rest of the state in broadband internet availability, the NH Broadband expansion is welcome news north of the notches.

“Fiber is what’s going to take us to the next level. When my wood pellet boiler emails me to empty the ash bin -- really, everything is on the internet. The George Jetson era is here,” said Carol Miller, President of the Board of the Coos County Economic Development Corporation.

Key Highlights:

  • Fiber Fast: NH Broadband uses cutting-edge fiber optic technology, providing symmetrical (download and upload) speeds up to 2 Gigabits per second to meet the demands of modern households and businesses.
  • Affordable: As a member-owned utility, the Co-op is committed to delivering essential services at competitive rates. Service packages start at $49.95/month with no hidden fees, installation fees or contracts.
  • Reliable: fiber optic lines are more durable and resistant to physical damage than the copper lines used by cable providers, an important feature in the rugged North Country.

Since 2020, NH Broadband has installed over 2,200 miles of fiber to provide high-speed internet access to over 29,000 homes, businesses and municipalities in nearly 50 towns. NH Broadband has made significant progress in its ability to deliver high-speed internet to previously unserved and under-served areas through the receipt of more than $65 million in grants, including a $50 million grant from the NH Department of Business & Economic Affairs.
